Kata mereka :- Terima kasih..

“Sudah 17 tahun jalan berlubang-lubang dan tak berturap.  Tapi sekarang dah selesai dalam masa 2 bulan. Terima kasih lah…” Itulah kata-kata yang dilafazkan oleh salah seorang penduduk di Lorong Bukit Setongkol antara perumahan lot 2153 dan 21051. Pusat Khidmat kami telah menerima aduan tentang kawasan tersebut yang seperti “NO MAN’S LAND.” Penduduk telah mengadu kepada semua wakil rakyat, ADUN & Ahli Parlimen, sebelum ini akan tetapi tiada tindakan telah diambil dan perkara ini telah berterusan selama 17 tahun. 

 Ucapan terima kasih diucapkan kepada pihak Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan di atas tindakan segera yang diambil setelah saya sendiri menghubungi MPK pada  November 2008. Kini penduduk di sekitar mendapat kemudahan yang selama ini di tunggu-tunggu. Alhamdulillah keceriaan diwajah mereka sudah mencukupi buat saya..

        

CONSULTATIONS WITH POLITICAL PARTIES IN ALGIERS

Up till now, I’ve worked with 5 out of 6 political parties, both from the ruling coalition as well as from the opposition. Basically the issues raised by the women from the various parties are similar with regards to organisation of women’s work, leadership training for women as well as working on coalitions. Emel seated on my right (and pictured with me in the city centre) is the intepreter. She’s a journalist and has been very helpful. Soulef on my left is the NDI consultant who’s currently with UNDP. Both of them   has been terrific in ensuring that my messages are understood properly by the women. This is because they speak mainly French and Arabic. Overall the experience has been very enriching for me.
