Mendamba Politik Baru

Anwar Ibrahim and police

One the eve of the end of the ban denying him the opportunity to hold political office Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, “I see all my efforts since my release from prison as grasping the handle that looks to the factors behind my victimisation and the need to remove them.” After six years of solitary confinement Dato Seri Anwar remains immune to the lure of revenge and vindication. The sweet sound of democracy that we heard resonate across Malaysia on March 8th is far more appealing and a harmony that gives hope to the many thousands who have shed blood and tears for the nation.

Join us to commemorate the end of Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s exclusion from public office this evening, April 14th, 2008.

Some concerns have been expressed that the police have banned this event. We assert that the Sultan Sulaiman Club is a private venue and the police cannot prevent people from attending the event, which be believe is legal and permissible under Malaysian law.
